WTF is Pickleball?

Hey there! Have you heard about the super fun game called pickleball? It's a mix of tennis, ping pong, and badminton, and it's become really popular lately. Even Alex Drummond tried it!

Pickleball is great because anyone can play it – you don't have to be a super athlete. It's easy to learn, and you can play it with your friends.

Now, you might wonder why it's called pickleball. Well, a long time ago, three dads created it to keep their kids busy on a rainy day. Some say it got its funny name because it reminded someone of "pickle boat" races with lots of different people competing. Others say it was named after a dog named Pickles who inspired the game.

So, how do you play? You use paddles and a plastic ball, and the court is smaller than a tennis court. The serve has to be underhand and bounce before the other player can hit it back. You score points when you're serving, and you need to win by two points to win the game.

There's also a special area called "the kitchen" near the net where you can't hit the ball in the air.

Don't worry if the rules seem confusing at first. Once you start playing, you'll get the hang of it. You can even check the official rules at USA Pickleball if you want to know more.

So grab a pickleball set, find a court, and have a blast playing with your friends. It's the perfect game for some active fall fun!
